Bring the magic alive with a trip to Lapland. A longer pre-Christmas break for those who want to linger in Santa’s kingdom.
YOUR DOGS ARE eager for the off! Huskies are at their happiest when there is an adventure before them. You decide who is going to be the musher, guiding the team of dogs. In each sled, one additional person (or two small children) settles down to enjoy the ride. And then you’re off on a journey, part of your 40-minute Husky Experience, through the wilderness, taking you out of sight of civilisation, where the trees bow under their burden of snow and the distant fells look mysterious in the half-light. Your Husky Experience is a highlight of your four-night break with Transun. But there is so much more. From a Snowmobile Adventure to a Search For Santa, from Supervised Snow Fun to a Festive Dinner, your short break is filled with magical experiences. Here is a typical itinerary.

DAY ONE
After a festive fl ight, you land in Enontekiö in Finland and are guided to your coach. The journey (15 minutes to our hotels in Hetta or one hour to the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando) takes you through the heart of the Sámi lands. We stop to collect your all-in-one thermal suits and boots. After checking in at your hotel, your Transun rep hosts a welcome meeting and during a welcome dinner, your rep will answer any further questions. Tonight, you can join one of our optional activities, such as a Northern Lights safari by snowmobile. (See Below for details.)

Throughout the day you can enjoy snow activities outside, with toboggans available free and kick sledges upon payment of adeposit. This afternoon, you can join one of our optional excursions, perhaps Reindeer Herding or head out for some more snow fun. After dinner, relax or join an optional activity.

DAY THREE
You’ll experience your second safari after breakfast, either a 40-minute Husky Experience or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Adventure. And you can head outside for more snow fun. This evening, join a walk to the local church. After a welcome by the vicar and carols, return to the hotel for dinner. Then perhaps join one of our optional night safaris.

Can anyone drive a snowmobile?
Driving a snowmobile in Finland is like driving a car, similar laws apply. A full driving licence is required. Please ensure you bring your driving licence with you. A damage waiver must be signed before commencing the activity. Credit card copies are taken and a 550 euros excess is payable for any damage, irrespective of severity. Normal traffic laws apply on snowmobile routes. Safety helmets must be worn at all times. (Please note this is not a defi nitive list of instructions and liabilities, further information is available upon request, and will be provided at resort.) As a general rule, all children 15 and under will travel in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children 12-plus can ride as a passenger behind a responsible parent/adult, however
this is physically demanding and therefore they will be assessed by the local guide on the day and it is at the guide’s discretion, their decision being final.
Are the kids' snowmobiles safe?
We have a miniature snowmobile ride for children. Depending on their size they are normally suitable for 4 to 10 year-olds. As it is a motorised vehicle, the ride is supervised so only available at specified times Snowmobiles are driven around a small circuit, attached to a rope. Children will have a minimum of five laps.
